In this section you can see different examples of the features of the AddOn, their logic, parameters and use cases.

About "translating"

Freeplane is Markdown capable on its own. You don't need this AddOn to use Markdown in Freeplane. The AddOn is just a tool that helps in 'translating' the mindmaping way of handle information into markdown type documents.

Example

An easy to understand example of this 'translating' is the web link MDH node.

It takes a node that has a link to a web page and formats it to presents its text and its URI in the markdown format:

  • [node's text](node's link uri)

Steps Image
1. Having a node with a link to a webpage web link 001.png
2. The MDH 'web link' node translates it.
Here we can see the result in the note of the node in text format
web link 002.png
3. This image shows the same as the one above it, but now we can see the result markdown interpreted web link 003.png

Markdown in freeplane

It is good to have an idea on how to do markdown in Freeplane without this addon too, because you can get the best results when combining both technics.

Some features of the Markdown Helper addon are very useful in some cases but are overcomplicated for other uses. It is up to you when to use them and when to go the standard markdown way. By knowing when to choose one or another your workflow will excel.

Please look at the Markdown document explanation before looking at the other functions of the AddOn (MDH Nodes and Extras).
