The Galnet monitor obtains articles from the Galnet feed and stores them for you to read at your leisure. It polls Galnet periodically, to ensure that the data is up-to-date, and raises events whenever new articles are found.

The Galnet monitor only picks up galaxy-wide news; system-local news is unavailable at this time. It also discards PowerPlay news, as this is a template and contains no useful information.

The material monitor configuration is available in an EDDI tab. It provides the ability for you to select the language in which Galnet articles are obtained (currently English, French and German).

The Galnet monitor puts news items in to one of the following categories:

• Conflict Report
• Democracy Report
• Economic Report
• Expansion Report
• Health Report
• Security Report
• Community Goal
• Starport Status Update
• Article

This report will read the latest unread news article in a given category, and mark it as read

This report will tell you that new Galnet news is available

This report will read a particular news item

This report will read the oldest unread news article in a given category, and mark it as read

This report will provide information on the number of unread articles in a given category

The default EDDI VoiceAttack profile allows you to use the following commands:

The Galnet Monitor generates a single event as listed below. Details on the values provided by this event can be found in the speech responder by clicking the "Variables" button when editing the event.

This event contains a list of all new Galnet news since the previous poll. It is triggered whenever this information is obtained from the Galnet feed.
