Motor and adapter selection

Motor selection

MASS OF PEN HOLDER Density = 1.188 g/cm^3 Volume = 89.067 cm^3

Mass = Density * Volume = 1.188 g/cm^3 * 89.067 cm^3 = 105.811 g

.MASS OF base part Density:1.15 g/cm^3 Volume: 2000 cm^3 mass 2300 g

3.Mass of Servo Motor : Mass = 35g

4.Mass of Sliders( Aluminium rods) : Density = 2.700 g/cm^3 Volume = 14.722 cm^3

Mass = Density * Volume = 2.700 g/cm^3 * 14.722 cm^3 = 39.750 g

Total mass of sliders = 3* 39.750 g = 238.5 g

Total load

Total load=MASS OF PEN HOLDER +MASS OF ACRYLIC SHEET+Mass of Sliders( Aluminium rods)+Mass of Servo Motor = 2274.7 g

Force Calculation :

Coefficient of friction of Aluminum = 0.4

Force = Coefficient of friction * Total load on the motor = 0.4 * 2274.7 g = 900

Torque calculation torque=forceperpendicular distancefactor of safety =1351.2 g-cm =1.35 kg-cm so we need stepper motor that can provide approximately 1.69 kg-cm of torque.

POWER CALCULATIONS For arduino:5v For Servo motor:5v For 12V adapter :current of stepper motor is 200mA

Number of Stepper motor: 2

Total current is 200mA*2=400mA=4.0A

For 5V adapter: current of Servo motor is 100mA

Number of Servo motor: 1 Total current is 100mA*1=100mA=0.1A

For 5v adapter : Arduino = 200mA

Power=voltage * current

For 5v arduino: 5v*0.2=1W

For 5v servo: 5v*0.1=0.5W

For 12v stepper: 12v * .2= 2.4W

Total current for the circuit=stepper motor + servo + Arduino = 0.6A + 0.1A + 2.4A = 3.1A Total power= voltage X total current = 12 X 3.1*1.5 = 11.8 Watts we decided to use Servo motor of 5V 1A adapter and for Arduino we decided to use 5v 1A adapter and 2 stepper motor 0f 12v adapter.
