Review of/actions from the last meeting
Financials
Good state, electricity going up - JM
Expanding
Went well, been successful, need plumbing
Paperwork - JM suggests we review Cambridge Makespace's
JM - to circulate Makespace's paperwork for next meeting
Free desk day to "Friends" - PaulFreeman to ask two friends, and two possible friends what they think of the idea
* PF - Overcomplicates things, not worth doing.
HakimCassimally to draft a grievances policy (check with AdrianMcEwen to get him to dig out London Hackspace example)
RossJones (ideally) to contact our friendly lawyer to see what would be best for a contract to arrange for permanent deskers
* All to review Cambridge and comment at next meeting.
Access (added by JohnMcKerrell)
Electronic doors allow more access, how do we handle this?
JM suggests we need doorbell and easier remote opening of door.
Consider adding this as a task for the hackday below
Idea suggested by PatrickFenner, have agreed it's a good idea, will offer for a fixed period.
Roles
Admin support (deal with hot deskers, do tours, inductions for space and equipment)
Helping out with opening up, responding to emails.
Registered Office
Consensus seems to be that it's fine. No charge for permanent people or workshop members. £15/month (i.e. Friend with Benefits (box)) otherwise
Should really sort out some paperwork making it clear how long we'll deal with post once they've left and making it clear that they should change their registered office if they move.
Say 1 month for storing post
Storage only, no telling
Advertise registered address only for permanent
Funding
ERDF - No thanks
Other smaller - maybe?
If someone wanted us to be involved they would have to come to us with a list of the outputs that we would be held to when they got and organised the funding.
Expansion
JM suggests testing the water of employing people by paying for some things we're not already doing, like marketing, design, promo.
AM to arrange meeting with Colin Dyas
Our own space would require a receptionist
Own building is on the back burner
Slowly colonise the fourth floor
Potential Future Events
PF - Website Hack Day
Get more than just DoES + HowWhyDIY along
* Get Creative Liverpool along
End of Feb probably
PF - Unconference (April/May?)
Experiment in putting on self funding unconference
General agreement that it's a good idea
JM mentioned having a "Girl Geeks BarCamp" in Liverpool too as an option for "doing another barcamp in the year without simply doing a barcamp"
