## # Community Meeting

Date: Saturday, January 4th, 2025

Time: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

## Attendance

Adrian, Jackie, John, Andy, Chris H, Terry (remote), Mike, Neil, Simon, Liz, Snoof and a few other people I didn’t catch the names of.

Previous Actions Review

  • Snoof: Setup Github team for Fibre Arts room. The team has been setup but Snoof doesn’t have the permisions to add members to the team. Carry over to next month.
  • Jackie: Set up a visit to NWCM. Carry over to next month.
  • Snoof: Setup Hack the Space Day. This was run prior to the Maker Day. Not much support from the community but some PAT testing was completed. Next Hack the Space Day set for 2nd February.
  • Mike: to add Caroline K’s printer to Alex spreadsheet. Ongoing. Additionally, add a new column to indicate the status of the items in the spreadsheet.
  • Kirsty and Neil: Organise Christmas party – completed.

Update on de-cluttering

  • Some Chairs have gone (chairs with green backs)
  • Some desks to go to Matt’s new place in Birkenhead in the near future
  • Now have access to a spot cleaner to clean fabric covered chairs
  • Tidied up Fibre Arts room

Update on Finances

  • Still not great
  • Income slightly up in December
  • European grant for heating was declined (was a potential 50% contribution)
  • Jackie to check the prices of sublimation inks to make sure we are covering our costs on this service
  • Rent and Rates will increase in April
  • Not heating the main space at the moment. We have had 2 quotes for replacement air conditioning units at present, for approx. £5k and £8k. No budget for this replacement at present.
  • Best way to improve the finances is to bring more people into the space. Need the equivalent of 4 full time desks to break even potentially. John to confirm target membership to break even.
  • Old Facebook page is still inaccessible. Neil to create a new Facebook page.
  • Need to investigate other social media platforms to better publicise DoES,
    • Instagram – possibly using Reel’s for video’s of DoES actitivities
    • Make the website more event focused
    • Blue Sky
    • X
    • Mastadon
  • Look at targeted adverts on Facebook. Simon to work with Jackie. C£50 for targeted adds.
  • Look into making videos for for use on Instagram (Reels)
  • Jackie to talk to users of Event Space – add banner to advertise DoES space
  • Adrian Liz and Terry to look at Workshop Guidance info. Update on Wiki and add to website
  • Mike asked if there are any more flyers.
  • Engage with Mailchimp more – get more people access to Mailchimp account

Actions

  • Snoof to set up github team for fibre arts room. Mostly completed but need to add members to the team.
  • Jackie to find out when we can visit NWCM, and organise, perhaps as a joint trip with Jelly folks.
  • Mike to add Caroline K’s resin printer (which needs a new FEP) to Alex’s spreadsheet of stuff looking for a new home.
  • Everyone to look through Alex’s spreadsheet of stuff looking for a new home – add anything else you know of, remove anything you think we should keep.
  • John to confirm how many full time members do we need to add to break even
  • Jackie to confirm the price of sublimation inks to confirm the prices we charge for sublimation covers our costs.
  • Neil to setup new Facebook page
  • Simon and Jackie to look at targeted adds on Facebook
  • Jackie to ask users of event space to add a Banner to their emails which advertises DoES Space
  • Adrian Liz and Terry to look at Workshop guidance information – Update on Wiki and add to website
