The Original Four

Colleen Taube, Erin Turner, and Kelly Connors were all selected as Doppelgängers to be able to mimic Zero. This idea came out of an attempt on Zero's life not long after Taqfleck was founded. As this was not the first attempt on the life of the apparent leader of the infected, a search was conducted to find people who could convincingly pass as Zero. Originally the hope was to find people from Ireland so they wouldn't have to train the accent, and to increase the likelihood of successful xenoexpression across the Doppelgängers, but none of the immigrants they found looked much her. They instead opted for three women who had the correct skintone, hair color and texture, eye color, and rough facial structure, and who were at least distantly Irish in hopes that would help with immune system matching.

Colleen ultimately failed to learn the accent and Erin's hair got darker over time, leaving Kelly as the closest match (at least until Erin eventually developed her talent for xenoexpression). But Licentia's strategy changed over time, and as Zero became less visible as a figurehead for the infected, the program was eventually scrapped. The Doppelgängers have already spent a lot of time together and tend to mostly get along, but there is an undercurrent of friction between a few of them.

Kelly changed significantly after a traumatic brain injury (TBI), so she gets two columns here. Colleen is currently on the run from the authorities and is thought to be lying low in Canada.
