The process engine maintains the state of running process instances inside the runtime database and also of executed process instances inside the history database.

Process Mining Tools
There are various tools on the market for evaluating event logs. Some of the best known are listed here. An event log file is available to test the tools and can be downloaded teleclaims.xes. Event Log File comes from the following source: http://www.processmining.org/event_logs_and_models_used_in_book
- ProM: short for Process Mining Framework and is Open Source.
- RapidMiner: offers ML and also posability to create predictive models. Students can apply for an Educational License, which is valid for 1 year and can be extended afterwards.
- Disco: offers the possibility to create visual maps from the event logs and give an insight into performance of the process. They also offer an Educational License.
- Apromore: offers two different editions Community Edition and Enterprise Edition. Community Edition is open source and can be downloaded as source code, for those who want to change the default configuration of apromore, or as a docker image.
- Docker: If you want to run Apromore docker image, you need to install Docker. Desktop version requires Windows 10 pro or enterprise version 15063 to run, but there is a workaround if you don't have the proper windows version.
