Analysis - Devil-Scout/DevilScout-Legacy GitHub Wiki
This page covers the methods available for analyzing data. But first, some general information.
Data sources
We utilize all of the data submissions available at an event to bring you the best analysis possible. This means that as events progress, analysis projections will gradually become more and more accurate as teams submit additional data points.
For the moment, we do not consider a team's previous events when computing our analysis, though this may be an option in the future.
In addition to user submissions, we source some of our data from The Blue Alliance, including ranking points, OPRs, and win-loss records. We also plan to analyze online score breakdowns, but this is difficult as TBA typically publishes the year-specific API just a few days before Week 1 events.
Fortunately, we can make this change without updating the app, so your team will automatically benefit as soon as we roll it out.
Team analysis
For the moment, this is our only analysis option. Once data is available for a team at an event, it is compiled into a summary for easy understanding.
First, you'll have to select a team to analyze:
-
From the main menu, select "Analyze - Teams" to reach the team selection page.
-
Select the team whose statistics you wish to view.
If your list doesn't show any teams, it may be because The Blue Alliance doesn't have your event's team list. Ask your event organizers to upload that information to TBA in order to use Devil Scout.
The analysis is organized into several pages, which you can navigate either by swiping left and right, or by using the buttons at the bottom.
