• The following solution is for when Time Machine slowly crawls every time it performs a backup.
•

• Expand the Time Machine menu and select “Open Time Machine Preferences…”
•

• Uncheck the “Back Up Automatically” checkbox and close the window.
•

• From the desktop, press shift, command, and U keys to launch the “Utilities” folder and double-click “Disk Utility” application.
•

• Select your Time Machine drive from the list of drives on the left then click “First Aid” at the top.
•

• Select “Run.”
•

• First Aid will take a while depending on how big your drive is. Select “Done” after it finishes.
•

• Expand the “Disk Utility” menu and select “Quit Disk Utility.”
•

• Expand the Time Machine menu and select “Open Time Machine Preferences…”
•

• Check the “Back Up Automatically” checkbox and close the window.
