How to Download ReMakePlace

Downloads are available from the Releases tab. Iza from the MakePlace Discord has also taken over uploading the application to itch, so users can alternatively download using the itch app. Issues related to the itch application/installation should be reported to them there.

1.1 via GitHub

Step 1: Download the ZIP File

1. Navigate to the Releases section of this repository by clicking the Releases tab.
2. Locate the latest release on the page.
3. In the list of assets, download the file with a title containing Re-makePlace.

Step 2: Extract the ZIP File

1. After downloading the ZIP file, locate it in your computer's download folder.
2. Right-click on the file and choose Extract All (Windows) or Extract Here (Mac/Linux).
3. Select a folder for the extracted files. Avoid system folders (e.g., C:\Windows, C:\Program Files or /usr/bin) and choose a user-friendly location.
4. Extract the contents of the ZIP file to this chosen folder.

Step 3: Launch the Application

1. Open the folder where the extracted files are located.
2. Find the application file to start the program:
   • Look for the .exe file.
3. Double-click the file to launch Re-makePlace.

1.2 via the itch App

[!NOTE] When using itch, Re-makePlace will not be able to load files from outside of the default save directory. Files must be placed in the appropriate directory.

Step 1: Install the itch App

1. If you don’t already have the itch app installed, download it from itch.io/app.
2. Follow the installation instructions for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).

Step 2: Find Re-makePlace

1. Open the itch app and log in with your itch.io account.
2. Use the search bar in the app to look for Re-makePlace.
3. Navigate to the game's page within the app.

Step 3: Install Re-makePlace

1. On the game's page, click the Install button.
2. Choose an installation location (the app will suggest a default folder, but you can select a custom one if needed). Note: When using itch, Re-makePlace will not be able to load files from outside of the default saves directory.
3. The app will automatically download and install the game.

Step 4: Launch the Application

1. Once the installation is complete, go to your Library in the itch app.
2. Find Re-makePlace in your list of installed games.
3. Click Launch to start the application.
