Have you spent an inordinate amount of time looking for love? And when you found love, did you feel incredible? Did it feel like you had entered into a real-life fairy tale?
You may have been searching for love, and then, just when you thought it’d never happen bingo. Love appeared out of nowhere. The beginning of a relationship is often indescribable. You can feel it but just can’t put your feeling into words. It’s heavenly enchanting euphoric. But even those words don’t quite explain what you’re really feeling. That’s how love is. You might be a very intelligent person, but you find yourself acting foolishly or speaking foolishly. Yes, love makes even intelligent people speak and act foolishly. Isn’t it wonderful?
You can’t think of anything or anyone else except your loved one. You dream of how your life will be week after week, month after month, and year after year. You dream about living happily ever after. The realities of what actual everyday life will be like for the two of you don’t intrude on your thoughts yet. And then time marched on. Love and romance became more difficult to keep alive as you had to deal with the difficulties that daily life presented you. Juggling jobs, children, and other obligations interfered with love and romance.
When you were in the throes of early romantic love, you didn’t look at what practical obligations would be involved if you got married. Instead, you jumped right in, and you both said I do. You didn’t worry about your differences. You weren’t concerned that you love to go hiking, but your loved one just wants to wait in the cabin while you traipse around. In the beginning, you didn’t mind hitting the trail on your own knowing that your loved one would welcome you back with a cup of hot tea. And your loved one was happy to hang out at the cabin reading a favorite book.
Eventually, however, you might wish that you and your lover could spend more time together, sharing more activities. Finally, you both think that the other one is just being too selfish. You’re both disillusioned with how your lives are turning out, and you both secretly consider divorce. Before you take that drastic step and hopefully before you get too far along the road toward divorce, consider trying some techniques to remind yourselves about why you fell in love in the first place.
Take some time to talk to each other about the beginning of your romance. Remind each other about what you did for each other that sparked the flames of your love. Something that has become quite popular is to build in a ‘date night’ on a regular basis once a week, twice a month, or however, often fits your schedules. Some people think it sounds silly, but if you both treat it like a special event, you might be surprised at how you’ll both enjoy it. Ladies, fix your hair, put on a little extra make up, pick out something nice to wear. Men, do the male version of that so your lady sees that you made some extra effort to appeal to her.
Write a love letter to your loved one and set your mind with some great Valentine’s Day ideas for her, describing how you feel and what it was about him or her that you fell in love with. If you find it difficult to put those feelings into writing then here are awesome Valentine’s Day ideas for her, then just make a list of the things about your partner that you fell in love with. Give little presents or romantic cards for no apparent reason just because you love each other. Call your loved one just to say ‘I love you.’ If he or she doesn’t answer, then just leave that message. Remember days that sparked your romance the day you met and the anniversary of your first date. And don’t forget birthdays and holidays like Valentine’s Day.
You can probably think of more ideas to rekindle your romance or at least to remind yourselves that you love each other. Don’t expect a mature relationship to have the same energy and infatuation as early romance. But learn to appreciate how far the two of you have come and how you’ve built something more than that early romantic love.
