Saving Files the Easy Way:

The standard file package, or standard dialog for saving, or whatever your OS calls it has always been a problem. This is especially true for non-technical users that may not think to pay attention to what directory they are saving things to, YASDOE has a good solution.

By default when you save a new file, or save as a different file, YASDOE brings up a simple dialog that just has a field for the file name and an Icon. If you name the file and mistakenly press enter YASDOE will tell you that you need to drag the icon to a directory window in the FilerShell. Requiring you to drag the file to the window of the directory you want to save it in assures that you know where it is being saved, and helps to find it later.

You can also save it directly into another document in another application, so long as the other application supports Drag and Drop, and understands the data being saved. This makes workflow simpler for some things that are easier this way than copy and paste.

Of course if you prefer the old standard file dialog you can still use that. There is a tiny arrow shaped icon at the lower left corner of the default save dialog, this expands the dialog to allow you to navagate to where you wish to save the file the old slow way. So you can do it just like you have always done in Macintosh System Software, NeXTSTEP (including OS X), Windows, most Linux Desktop Environments, etc, and it allows you to forget to pay attention to the directory used just like with all those others.
