What do you like in software engineering?

  • It’s like magic!
  • Diverse
  • Create something out of nothing
  • Hack GU for better grades…

What would you like to learn in the course?

  • Combining Software with Hardware
  • How to make an App
  • New management styles
  • Working with Customers

Management

The managers tasks are mainly leading the meetings, writing down the meeting notes, keeping track of potential issues/blockages during the sprint, and making sure all deadlines are met.

I particularly like the diversity of topics. The program syllabus presents us with a wide range of software based solutions, such as Embedded Systems, Distributed Systems, Mobile Development, Web Development.

What would you like to learn in the course?
In this course I would like to hone both my social skills by working in a team and also my technological skills by getting my first real experience at a C language, as well as getting to know more about the Arduino and hardware in general.

Bardia Forooraghi - On campus (hybrid first week)

What I like best about software engineering is that it allows me to design a fantastic product without requiring a lot of hardware. Another benefit is that I am able to ponder and challenge myself more, demonstrating what a guy is capable of.

What would you like to learn in the course?
I'd like to learn a new way of thinking about programming against hardware, as well as what challenges I might run across and how to deal with them when writing for hardware. Last but not least, what can I do to make my product better?

Georg Zsolnai - On campus

image What do you like in software engineering?
The freedom to create and design a solution to any problem while having the continuously being able to improve and update existing solutions. This in combination with the growing opportunities means there is a high demand for interesting jobs that will surely provide more knowledge.

What would you like to learn in the course?
I would like to learn how to connect software with hardware and to be able to provide neat software that creates a fun solution with the challenge of being a completely new domain of software engineering for me.

Ivan Vidackovic - On campus

image What do you like in software engineering?
Firstly, I like software engineering since it's one of the ways of expressing my creation through a software while learning new things. Secondly, I like it because it makes me understand business even better, and hopefully I can combine the tech knowledge with the economy studies from before.

What would you like to learn in the course?
In this course I would like to learn more about embedded system and how it works together with writing code. Since so far we have only been working with software and not hardware, and I do not have a great knowledge in hardware, so hopefully I expand the knowledge in both software and hardware.

John Christopher Webb - On campus

image What do you like in software engineering?
I like the challenge that comes with encountering concepts that I am unfamiliar with. It makes finding solutions even more fulfilling.

What would you like to learn in the course?
First and foremost, I want to improve my overall programming knowledge so that I can have more confidence when approaching new problems. Furthermore I want to improve my cooperative and team-based skills in an array of software development methodologies.

Lance Janssen - Remote

image What do you like in software engineering?
I like the creativity of making tools and cool projects out of nothing.

What would you like to learn in the course?
I would love to learn how to use sensors and actors to make a smart robot which solves real problems. Furthermore, I cannot wait to work in a team again to practice and improve my project management skills!
