How did I build my SASS ? - DD4WH/SASS GitHub Wiki
Parts needed:
- large Yoga block (290mm x 52mm x 124mm)
- boundaries made from wood (1.9mm x 9.2cm x 12.4cm)
- 4 x EM272 electret condenser microphone capsules (preferably matched for sensitivity)
- good shielded audio cable (eg. Mogami 2697 balanced miniature cable)
- 2 x Neutrik male XLR plugs
- 2 x electrolytic capacitor at least 4.7µF 25V
- 2 x 22 KOhms resistors
- acoustic foam block ["should block frequencies above 1200Hz by more than 3dB per inch"]. I used "Basotect", but that is probably overkill
- aluminium or metal sheet (<= 0.8mm thick), 150mm x 400mm

Assembly
- drill two holes each into each of the wood boundaries for the mics. It is essential that the mics are flush with the boundary surface
- fix the mics
- solder the mics in parallel to one cable end (for details look HERE )
- drill holes for the cables into the yoga block
- put cables through yoga block
- solder electrolytic capacitor and resistor and GND connection to XLR plug (for details look HERE )
Adjust the resistor value to your needs. For my Marantz PMD661 recorder with 4.2kOhms input impedance I can measure 8.2 Volts at the EM272 mic with 22kOhms resitors
- solder cable ends to aproppriate connections on the XLR HERE
