7.1 Motor Sizing :
TOTAL MASS CALCULATION
- Density of Acrylic Sheet = 1.2 g/cubic cm
- Density of Foam Sheet = 0.062 g/cubic cm
- Volume of Side Stand = 102 cubic cm
- Volume of Cradle = 2216 cubic cm
- Volume of Crank = 168 cubic cm
- Volume of Crank = 60 cubic cm
- Mass of Side Stand = Volume * Density of Foam sheet = 0.0063 kg
- Mass of Cradle = Volume * Density of Foam Sheet = 0.137 kg
- Mass of Crank = Volume * Density of Acrylic = 0.201 kg
- Mass of Crank = Volume * Density of Acrylic Sheet = 0.0037 kg
- Mass of DC Motor = 0.09 kg
TOTAL MASS = 0.438 kg
FORCE CALCULATION
- F = m * g
F = 0.438 * 9.81 = 4.29 N
TORQUE CALCULATION
- T = m * g * D / 2
T = 0.32175 Nm
- Total Torque = 0.32175 * 1.5 = 0.4826 Nm = 4.82 kg-cm
- Therefore we require 60RPM 12V Low Noise DC Motor with Metal Gears - Grade A.
7.2 Battery Sizing :

Therefore the capabilities which we require will be,
12 V - 0.9A
We use 12V and 0.5A battery.
