3D OperatorIntroduction
The shape operator is used to define the overall form and silhouette of the terrain. By utilizing images or predefined shapes, you can create complex terrain features that would be difficult to achieve with noise alone. This operator is particularly useful for establishing the foundational geometry of your landscape before applying additional detail with other operators.
Parameters
- Shape Image: The input image or shape used to define the terrain silhouette. This can be a grayscale heightmap or a vector shape.
- Scale: Controls the size of the shape features. Larger scales create broader, more gradual variations, while smaller scales produce finer details.
- Offset: Adjusts the position of the shape within the terrain. This can be used to align the shape with specific features or areas of interest.
Usage
The shape operator can be used in the Terrain Network and the Splatmap Network. It is typically used early in the operator chain to establish the basic form of the terrain. Once the shape is defined, you can use other operators, such as noise or erosion, to add detail and complexity to the landscape.
