First 5 Minutes:
The first five minutes of Dungeon Hoard involve the introduction of the Overworld and Combat phases of the core game experience. It provides players with an opportunity to explore both game modes and establishes the first stage of the dungeon. Within the first stage, the player is given their first introduction to the player characters, Yaya the Thief, Krishna the Guard, and Amita the Mage. This stage introduces these scrappy dungeongoers and their signature abilities, in addition to a few humble examples of the horrifying and ghastly creatures that are to be expected within the dungeon, namely starving rats and parasitic worms, the only things capable of surviving the barren, sterile hole that is the player's first introduction of things to come.
From the title screen, the player is offered the ability to start in either the regular game mode or a "Hard Mode". It is not expected or recommended that a first-time player chooses the hard game mode as their first experience with the game, but after selecting to begin the game, the player is introduced to the first overworld segment of the game.
In the first overworld segment, the player is placed into a top-down view of the first dungeon level, in which you control Yaya and Amita, who are presently locked in a dungeon cell at the very bottom of the dungeon. Krishna approaches, and unlocks their cell, claiming to take them to freedom if they would fight with her through the levels of the dungeon to the surface. Joining Krisha, the two other party members join to form a single-file line that is now controllable by the player using WASD and can move into the hitbox of one of the many enemy units roaming around the stage, triggering a combat encounter.
In combat, the three player characters face off against three aggressors, who on the first stage would likely include some combination of the dungeon's iconic "Rat" and "Worm" monsters. In this encounter, the player is given a short tutorial on the game's basic mechanics, most notably the attack mechanics, which for physical attacks includes a bar that signifies a hit and a critical hit, with which you input a button that ideally lands on either of these segments and translates to a hit against a monster, and for magical attacks, wherein you control a small sprite within a circle confine, attempting to dodge patterns of projectiles that permeate within the play area. Additionally, the player may also be briefed briefly on the usage of items and benefits they provide to the player characters, and the way in which the shown monsters will attack, and where their strengths and weaknesses lie.
There is also an introduction cutscene planned for a now-undetermined future build of the game, which would seek to introduce non-gameplay-related elements of the game setting and player characters. The cutscene would feature Krishna appearing before the other two dungeongoers, and offering them freedom in a way similar to that which is described above.
