Project Demonstration - Code-the-Dream-School/React-Node-Practicum GitHub Wiki

Show off what you built, and give/receive constructive feedback to help you and your dev teammates grow

  • Work with your team to plan for your final project presentation:
    • Who will introduce the purpose and concept of your app?
    • Who will showcase each feature?
  • Fill out the peer evaluation form (provided in Slack channels) for each of your team members to give feedback to your teammates and
  • Complete the same form to review and evaluate your own skills and make Code the Dream aware of what you intend to do next (apply for apprenticeship, take another class, take another practicum in a different role, start job hunting, etc.)

Additional Details about the Final Project Presentation

At the end of the Practicum, your team will be expected to attend and present your project at the next Weekly Café immediately following the last day of your practicum (see your practicum main page for date). Your presentation should last five to ten minutes, but should not exceed ten minutes. All team members are expected to attend and participate in the presentation. If team member(s) are unavailable to attend, those teammates should plan to record their part of the presentation for their team to share during the live demo. At least one team member MUST attend the Weekly Café presentations. If you didn’t start this part last week, you should begin thinking/planning/organizing your presentation this week. When you have your plan, feel free to practice/rehearse your presentation (or record if necessary) this week. Be sure to cover the following during your presentation:

  • The progress in your app from the start of practicum to now.
    • How did you determine what type of an app you were going to build?
    • What elements did you want to include, and what did you find you needed to change or refactor as you went?
    • How did you decide what the app would look like visually? Feel free to share wireframes/mockups if any were used!
  • The technical aspects each group member contributed to the project.
    • Who was responsible for which parts? (individually or collaboratively)
  • Tell us about your group’s process of working together:
    • How did your group decide what each person would work on? It would be great to hear about this directly from each person!
  • Give us your group’s critique of your project:
    • What do you like best about the finished project?
    • What are things you may still like to change/improve? Does your team have any plans to build on your app, or if you were given additional time what things would you add/change/improve?
    • What was the biggest challenge over the course of the practicum and how did you work through it?

You're welcome to use this slide deck as a basis for your presentation, or you can create your own. A slide deck is not required for the presentation, but you should have some means of clearly displaying and sharing bullet points about your project and project experience.

Additional Resources

None for this week. Focus on wrapping up your project and thinking about how you will talk about the work you did and what you learned during practicum in your presentation and future conversation with employers. Review the previous weeks’ resources and bookmark any that you found helpful for future reference.
