7. Powering the TCD - CircuitSetup/Time-Circuits-Display GitHub Wiki
The TCD can be powered one of two ways:
- The micro USB jack via the ESP32
- The green screw connector
For either case, the power supply must output at least 1000mA. If you are seeing issues with the TCD not turning on, or restarting, you probably need a higher output power supply.
If you are experiencing problems with the TCD starting up or restarting, try turning down the volume with the knob on the back of the control board. Turn it towards you to turn down the volume.
For micro USB
You can use either:
- Desktop computer USB port
- A phone charger
For either you'll need a micro USB to USB cable, which commonly come with phones and various electronics.
Green screw connector
- A DC power supply with voltage between 6-20V, like this one
- Wired to a 12v car battery (don't forget a fuse)
