In order to make the setting of this level feel believable, I found some reference images: floor plans of greek temples. For the Temple 086

Areas and Narrative

The plan is to have 7 individual areas or rooms in this map with a couple of rest areas in between. I want the player to start outside the temple so they can take in the setting. There will be the Temple's entrance or atrium, where the player first gets inside the temple. Next will be the lounge/sitting areas. Greco-roman temples were known to be meeting areas and this lounge area is meant to evoke that history. I figured it would be neat to have rest areas by mini bath areas since public baths were popular in roman society as places of refuge and as meeting places. Greco-roman temples are known for having a large statue in the middle of them, this is the space I call the worship or tribute area. There are a few greek myths that talk about sacrificing tributes to the gods. The areas following this worship area will be the decent into the more sinister nature of this temple. From the Worship area, the player will enter a dungeon that then leads to the maze, at the center of which is the "minotaur" or the boss room.
