VFA - Chinstrap777/Chinstrap_3DP_Reference GitHub Wiki
Vertical Fine Artifacts (VFA) are generally caused by motor resonances. At certain speeds they may increase/decrease in severity.
In order to diagnose this issue it is recommended to print the VFA tower in Orca Slicer in order to find what speeds to utilize when printing in order to avoid VFAs.
If you find that your VFAs are spaced 2mm apart then it is most likely caused by too high of belt tension.
If you find that they are consistently spaced across different speeds and aren’t 2mm apart it could be the following:
-
Extruder backlash using a direct dual drive extruder.
-
Unbalanced toolhead fan caused by damage, residue deposited during printing of ASA/ABS, or even dust on the fan.
