Barren Ion Core is a cave minibiome.
Narrow caves close to the ion core of the planet, full of obsidian and other hard materials and minerals. Here you can find tier 5 ores like aegisalt ore, ferozium ore and violium ore.

Main block: Obsidian
Secondary block options: Granite Rock

Objects: Ceiling Spike, Unknown Device, Alta Lab Capsule, Alta Lab Capsule With Mical, EDS Lifechamber, EDS Status Pod, Ground Spike
Treasure: Alta Ship Pod, Hi-Tech Chest (Blue), Hi-Tech Chest (Green)
