Spren are curious creatures that exist on Roshar, the planet on which the Stormlight Archive takes place. Embodiments of nature or emotion, the spren are an ever-present aspect of life that the planet's inhabitants are generally accustomed to, from the windspren that dance in the air like ribbons, to the lifespren like green motes of light bobbing around particularly fertile areas, to angerspren like pools of bubbling blood at the feet of anyone particularly incensed, or gloryspren appearing as golden spheres bursting around people in moments of triumph. Some spren - like alespren - are rarer than others, only occasionally being drawn to the emotion or thing that attracts them. Some very few are unique, like Cusicesh the Protector, a spren who appears (in the bay of a town in Iri) at precisely 7:46 every morning.

Though they can be useful to judge a person's mood, it's often considered something of a faux pas to point out the spren a person has drawn - it is simply accepted that everyone will draw spren, it's a part of life.

A number of spren appear in this mod. For the most part, these are ambient particles that have no effect on gameplay.

• Windspren: On Roshar, windspren can commonly be found dancing in the air as ribbons of blue light or as translucent blue people. They are seen even more frequently just after a Highstorm. In the mod, they will appear around anyone moving especially fast, or who is very high up.

• Lifespren: Lifespren appear as bobbing green motes of light, that may appear anywhere that plants live, particularly in areas that are especially lush. In the mod, they have a chance to appear around any crop that hasn't finished growing.

• Creationspren: Creationspren are drawn to any act of creativity, especially arts like drawing or painting. They are silvery in colour, and take the form of things the spren saw recently. In the mod, there is a chance of attracting creationspren every time you craft something.

• Gloryspren: Gloryspren appear as globes of golden light that burst around the head of a person feeling triumphant, or a great sense of accomplishment. In the mod, they appear whenever a player completes an achievement.

• Joyspren: A fairly rare spren, joyspren take the form of translucent blue leaves that fall upwards around the person to whom they're drawn. In the mod, joyspren appear when you pet/interact with a tamed entity.

• Hungerspren: Hungerspren have the appearance of tiny, buzzing, brown flies that are attracted to especially strong hunger. In the mod, they may appear when a player's food level is low enough that they can no longer sprint.

• Painspren: Painspren are attracted to anyone who feels a significant amount of pain, and take the form of sinewy orange hands crawling around. After a battle, painspren can be used to identify severely injured soldiers who are still alive among the bodies, since dead men draw no spren. In the mod, they may appear whenever an entity is hurt.
