What is Cambria Center?

Cambria Center is a bash script that can do Gentoo configuration for you, in a easy way. To start it, just type cambria-center in the terminal.

Options available

[1] Builds jobs (or make jobs)

Build jobs (or make jobs) is a number represent the number of compiling processes for one package. Gentoo recommands to set it to (ramsize + swapsize)/2. But it is not simple as that. Nevertheless it is the recommanded way of calculating it. See here for more on it.

[1] Emerge jobs

Emerge jobs represent the number of packages that can be compiled in parallel. We recommand to set it to 1. See here for more on it.

[2] L10n configuration

It configure what locale is going to be use on your system. It can take some time by re-building some packages. It is really important else you will not have your system in your locale.

[3] CPU optimizer (or cpu flags)

It is a variable containing instruction set and other CPU-specific features. It can improve reactivity an performance but you will rarely see the difference, but it is even recommanded to to. It can take some long time by rebuilding a lot of packages. See more here

[4] GPU driver selection

By default, Cambria is shipped with all GPU drivers for compatibility reasons. But post installation, you need to remove the one that are not used. Select with [Space] and continue with [Enter]. You can select multiple choices if you have an AMD iGPU and an Nvidia dGPU for instance. Be careful because it can take a lot of time.
