Competitors and Differentiation - CSC4790-Fall2024-Org/Sports-Betting-Tool GitHub Wiki

There are a few different applications which provide a similar service to what we are hoping to build. However, given the ability to make money based on the service that these applications offer, they tend to charge a sizable monthly fee in order to access. Our tool being free to use and offering education about the strategies used to find profitable bets will differentiate us from the competitors and help us target both unexperienced EV bettors and smaller bankroll bettors.

OddsJam: OddsJam is the industry standard when it comes to positive EV betting tools. It offers an odds screen, which lists out all of the upcoming sporting events and the various odds offered for each market across different sportsbooks. It also offers a positive EV tool, which filters through the odds for all of the markets and finds profitable bets. The major con of OddsJam is the exorbitant price-point. Their lowest tier is $100 a month and limits the things that you have access to. In order to access the full functionality of the site, you have to pay $200 a month. We admire a lot of the aspects of OddsJam, and aim to replicate some of their tools and add more to them.

DawBets/PropProfessor: These two tools offer similar functionalities to one another and are solid alternatives to OddsJam at a lower price-point. Nevertheless, they both have their shortcomings. For one, they do not offer an odds screen for users to compare odds across sportsbook for a specific bet. They only offer a plus EV page, which lists out the best bets available. A nice feature that both of these sites have is that you can input your total bankroll and risk profile, and the site will automatically size your bets based on the Kelly Criterion. This is something that we hope to offer as well. At $25 and $35 a month respectively, we also hope to incorporate some aspects of these tools but offer them for free.
