Alpha Tester Comments - CSC4790-Fall2024-Org/Sports-Betting-Tool GitHub Wiki

For our alpha testing phase, we both interviewed a couple of our roommates with the version of the app that we will be presenting on for demo 3. We demonstrated the progress that we made and appreciated the feedback that they were able to provide.

The first roommate was impressed by the progress and really liked the direction that we were moving in with the positive expected value page. He is a long-time sports bettor, and currently pays for programs similar to ours online that filter through positive expected value picks. His primary issue with the page was in regard to the fact that the data is a little difficult to read in our current model. He thought that there should be a better way to more clearly display the information. We appreciated the insight and definitely have plans to display the opportunities more clearly, with directly printing out which bet to take at which odds, and what your expected value will be. We anticipate that this will enhance the user experience and create ease when using our app.

The second roommate honed in on the new education page more than anything else. He thought that it was a nice touch, as he was relatively inexperienced and was able to learn about the app through using it. He said that it helped him really understand what he was looking at on the expected value and arbitrage pages, and that it was more straightforward than having to google it. He noted a couple of other pages that we can make, like pages about implied probability, arbitrage, and a couple of other betting strategies that we are planning to implement for our final demo.
