Alpha Testers Role Gaming Experience Time Spent Testing Feedback
Micheal Roommate Avid Gamer 2 Hours Overall a fun time, the world felt a little empty and being in the VR for a while brought on motion sickness. But it was cool to see how objects could interact with each other and the objected picked up in VR
Kojo Co-Worker Not really a gamer 30 Minutes Better graphics, feels a bit empty outside of the small test village, a little motion sick with the smooth turning
Taj Roommate Gamer 40 Minutes It was entertaining to see real-time debugging and addition of interactable objects, world felt empty to run around in VR, needs more interaction
Report on Feedback The alpha testers ended up having common view on some aspects of the project, one of the notably being the motion sickness, the other, the lack of content/gameplay mechanics present in the current build of the project. In the light of world building, that will be a secondary focus in our working going forward, populating the world with assets to bring life to the VR world around them, the skybox was the easiest on the eyes, but the watermark at the top was offputting. The primary focus will be the implementation of gameplay mechanics such as a rudimentary casting / reeling fishing system with fish AI. Dealing with motion sickness will be an obstacle that we will continually clash with as everyone has a different tolerance to movement in VR. We are looking into making the movement slower, the turning into snap turning, or possibly having a sedentary player who can only turn. There was a great positive feedback from the testers about the future of the project and liked the way it was heading so far.
