About
Subtitle Workshop is a free subtitle editing tool that supports many subtitle formats. It is a simple and resourceful application that can be downloaded from its official website.
Features
Its beta version runs on Windows, Mac, or Linux operating systems and features:

Getting started
This page shows how to get started using the basic functions of the application.
Loading a video
For loading the video where you want to create or edit subtitles follow the steps described on this page.
- Open the Subtitle Workshop application
- Click on Movie > Open (Ctrl+P)
- Select the video file and click Open
You should see the video loaded on the video player.
Creating the first subtitle
To start subtitling your video follow the steps described on this page.
- Click on File > New Subtitle (Ctrl+N)
NOTE:
SW works based on the time of the last subtitle. If the last subtitle line has a time that is less than any other checked subtitle, all subtitles from this value onwards will not be shown. To avoid this problem, create now a new "infinite line" following the steps below
- Press Insert to add a new line and type "END"
- Press Ctrl+D keys and choose option "+"
- Insert the value 23:59:59,999
- Apply it for selected subtitles
Inserting a new line
- To insert a new line below the current one press Insert
- To insert a new line above the current line press Shift+Insert
Timing the subtitle
- To sync the subtitle show time, press Alt+C keys
- To sync the subtitle hide time, press Alt+V keys
