Anvil Factories - CIF-Rochester/CursedSkyblock GitHub Wiki
What the heck is a factory?
In vanilla, typically blocks like cobblestone and basalt are the only thing that can be effectively generated from lava. In Cursed Skyblock, these generators can be used to automatically produce much more. Factories are automated machines that take generated blocks and convert them into others. We have already created working anvil factories so automation is confirmed to be possible.
Anvil automation
In vanila, anvils cannot be pushed by pistons or dispensed. To make automation possible, both of these have been implemented as features of the cursed skyblock plugin.
Pushing Anvils
Pushing anvils is not as simple as pushing any other blocks, you can't just push an anvil like you would any other block. Currently, to push anvils you must first place a piston. Beneath the piston place a redstone lamp. Place an anvil on the piston's pushing face. Powering the lamp will cause the piston to push the anvil. Take advantage of this however you will.
Dispensing Anvils
First place a dropper or dispenser down. Beneath the air block in front of the dispenser, place an anvillable block. If the block is anvillable, triggering the dispenser will place down the anvil and execute the anvil crushing recipe. This feature works will all anvil crafting recipes. Take advantage of this however you will.
Example: Gravel factory
The Recipe
If you are not aware, you can create gravel by this process: Cobblestone -> Gravel This is how we will make gravel.
The generator
Obviously a cobblestone generator can be used to produce our cobblestone. Build a basic cobblestone generator and place a Packed Ice block beneath the block where cobblestone will form to force the generator to produce only cobblestone. Set up a piston to push the cobblestone out of the generator, You will need a 5 Repeater timer to ensure that the piston only pushes when cobblestone is present.
After a short time you'll have a line of cobblestone.
The Crusher
The next step is to crush the gravel using anvils. How you go about this is up to you. The simplest way is to use an observer to detect the change in the crushed block, pushing anvils using lamp pistons in specific ways when this occurs. Do note that you could also dispense the anvil and use some sort of collection system to move the anvil item back into the dispenser. There are a lot of ways to go about this.
Collection
Gravel is a convenient block to collect. It has gravity. After the crusher, drop your gravel on to a non-full block like a torch and collect the item with a hopper. This should be enough information for you to make more advanced factories.
