The Mantis Cluster - CBC-UCONN/CBC_Docs GitHub Wiki
The UCHC HPC team is excited to introduce the Mantis cluster, our latest high-performance computing resource. As we continue to enhance and optimize its capabilities, we invite our users to explore its features and functionalities during this beta stage. The Mantis cluster is designed to address and overcome limitations related to the older CentOS operating system, SLURM, and other issues previously encountered on the Xanadu cluster.
Note: Mantis employs SLURM for its resource management and job scheduling. Currently, the resource headers that are utilized in scripts on Xanadu are compatible and can be used directly on Mantis.
Access to Mantis is restricted to authorized users. To request an account, please send an email to [[email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) with your Xanadu UserID.
Once your account is activated, you can connect to the Mantis cluster using the following SSH command. Please ensure you are connected to the CAM VPN for access:
ssh <USERID>@mantis-submit.cam.uchc.edu
Mantis currently hosts a selection of the software and modules available on Xanadu. Due to differences in operating environments, not all software compiled on Xanadu may be compatible with Mantis. Users are encouraged to verify and, if necessary, recompile or install required software versions.
Users relying on specific environments from Xanadu may need to recreate these environments on Mantis. This ensures compatibility and optimal performance of applications and scripts.
Mantis shares its file system with Xanadu, allowing users to access and manage their data seamlessly across both clusters. Users will find their data in the same locations as on Xanadu, simplifying the transition to using Mantis.
As Mantis is still in its beta stage, we welcome your feedback and reports on any issues or requirements to enhance the system. Our support team is here to assist you in adapting to the new cluster and to ensure a smooth computing experience.
