Swerve Modules - BytingBulldogs8137/8137-Byting-Bulldogs-2026- GitHub Wiki

Our Swerve drive has also made us look better ever since we implemented it last season. Though, we’ve had run into many issues with the physical mechanics/assembly, we’ve gotten better at fixing those issues over time.

Something I’d suggest to many other teams with Swerve, or more specifically, REV Swerve modules, with one rotation motor(NEO 550) and one drive motor(NEO 1650), is that you must ALWAYS check your encoder wires, maybe even use some hot glue, electrical tape, zip ties, etc. to keep them in the SparkMaxes. We’ve lost connection to a wheel almost every match because the encoder wire had too much tension on it and it came right out the SparkMax. There is such a thing as longer wires in the swerve module assembly kit, and I highly recommend you use them so you don’t run into the same issue.

I’d also recommend that if you replace anything that relates to wheel assembly, to always zero the encoder in the REV hardware client 2 and align the wheel(s) as it should be before doing so.
