So our climber has been a work in progress so far as since about less than a week ago. We had the idea of using an AndyMark one staged powered elevator to climb, but then realized that the weight of the robot was going to cause some issues, as well as the placement of the climber being on the very edge of one side.
So instead, we’re currently in progress with making a pneumatic system with two solenoids with hooks attached to them to help our robot climb. We reused basically every pneumatic part from our last seasons robot, which we used to open and close a gate that held the coral game piece and could deposit it in the trough(level 1).
We’re also working on an autonomous for our climb as well, hoping that we’d be able to score more points than in tele-op. We probably will only use the climber in autonomous anyways, as we have no way for to get the robot off the first bar of the tower at the end of each match, as far as we know.
