False Positives - Byte-Nova/Rimworld-Together GitHub Wiki
Summary
When downloading the server files on Windows, you might be prompted by your antivirus telling you that the file cannot be downloaded because it contains a virus. Worry not, this is not the case and it's just a false positive that happens to us every so often.
Why is this happening?
Some AVs might detect the server executable as a virus. This is usually caused by not having them updated to their latest version (specially common in Windows Defender cases). In other cases, certain anti-viruses that work using AI recognition might also trigger falsely when downloading the files as has been seen in the past. There's more information about this false positives here and here, in which users found the same issues and were able to solve it.
What to do about it?
First, make sure your antivirus of choice is updated to the latest available version. The vast majority of times this is enough to make the false positives disappear. If this is not the case, we recommend switching to a more reputable antivirus since this issue is prone to happen on other products if you are experiencing it already.
