caveats - Bushmills/Anycubic-Kobra-3-rooted GitHub Wiki
Any upgrade of printer firmware will undo own configuration. It may therefore be less of a hassle to keep own customization by applying them from a script, which is re-run when needed.
I'm currently waiting for the announced firmware update which will supposedly allow to control printer from LAN before applying my changes again - as it's back to rather pristine condition now, due to another firmware upgrade, as I'm for now spending more time with a Kingroon KLP1-230 which is, in terms of software, pretty much the opposite of the Kobra 3 (vanilla Armbian OS, vanilla klipper installation through kiauh script, a handful of download scripts, cloning printer specific additions from github, running X11 on its touch screen, all in all the kind of software setup one wished for the Kobra 3).
Current app version 1.4.6 from Play store (2024jul23) seems faulty - It terminates right after launch attempt on three different phones on which I tried it. Version 1.4.5, restored from backup, starts again. "Support" has been advised of the problem.
It seems that the app will, beginning with v1.4.6, not run on rooted phones any longer. This decision disqualifies Anycubic for my uses: Designing the firmware such that the device is hard to use without the app, while restricting the app to unrooted mobile devices is a combination of requirements which I find unacceptable.
Consequence: Anycubic, you just lost a customer. I'll go with less restrictive devices.
Installation of magisk, enabling of zygisk, forcing exclusion list and adding Anycubic app to the list will suffice to work around problem and allow to run Anycubic app on rooted phones again.
