Downloading Bitwarden

  1. Open your favourite browser.
  2. Either type in Bitwarden in your address line or search "Bitwarden" to arrive at the site https://bitwarden.com/
  3. Press the Download option, where you will be prompted to choose the version. The application has a Premium option, although for 99% of users, the free version will provide all their needs.

  1. Choose the correct Operating System for your case, Windows. The easiest way to install it is either through an EXE file or from the Microsoft Store.

  • 4.1 For a Microsoft Store install, click the link, and you will be directed to the dedicated page where it will download and install itself all in one click.

Installing Bitwarden

  1. Right-click on the client and choose Run as Administrator

  1. If your Computer is used by multiple users, choose the option "Only for me". If you're the sole user of your computer, choose Anyone Who Uses this computer.

  1. Once the Installation is complete, you will receive the following screen: Choose to run Bitwarden. Login to Bitwarden or Create your User.

Creating A User

  1. First, choose between Bitwarden.com or Bitwarden.eu depending on your geographic location - com for US or eu for Europe or the REST OF THE WORLD. and click "Create Account".

  1. Fill in the Details and Mark V if you want to receive emails regarding offers and updates (not necessary).

  1. Your next screen will show you the email chosen and will ask you to verify it via an email sent to it.

  1. You will now be asked to create a master password to access your account. Follow the guidelines of the creator to make sure you create a strong and memorable password.

Tip: add a hint for it in case you have forgotten, so you will have a way to try to remember since it cannot be recovered.

Logging in to Bitwarden

  1. Enter the Email you registered with along with the master password you've just created.

Adding a Login

  1. Select the password option from the sidebar menu and click the big + below to create your first password ticket or add to the existing ones.

  1. Enter the name of the classification for the password you created, for example, your Discord or Steam account details. Enter the username, password for the chosen credentials. If you don't have a password, Bitwarden can help you generate a strong one within the password(yellow circle) line and even check for your existing password if it's exposed(red circle). Click Save, and your Account password and credentials have been saved.

Adding an ID

  1. Fill out all the request details for your ID along with your name to catalog it, and click Save.

Adding a Credit Card

  1. Fill out all your Credit Card details and click Save.

Adding an SSH

  1. Click on the SSH key option. Bitwarden will generate one for you, including a public key and fingerprint. After adding a name to the SSH, click Save.

Adding a Secure Note

  1. Click on the Secure Note option. Fill in the information that you wish to keep secure and click save.

Deleting Information (How‑To)

Tip: Deleted items stay in your Bin for 30 days. Empty the Bin to remove them permanently.

  1. Select the item (password, ID, note, or card) in the vault list.
  2. Click the trash‑can icon Trash Icon Bin in the bottom-left.
  3. To erase forever, open Bin ▸ Permanently Delete.
