Item Description

OpnSense is an open source firewall used in Lab 1 - Virtual Firewall and Windows 10 Configuration.

Configuration Guide

Step 1 - Assign Interfaces

• Select 1 to "Assign interfaces"
• Configure VLANs now? NO
• WAN Interface name -> em0
• LAN Interface name -> em1
• When prompted for an option interface, press ENTER
• When prompted to proceed, do so

Step 2 - Set interface IP address

• Select 2 to "Set interface IP address"
• Select 2 for WAN interface
• DHCP to configure WAN IPv4? NO
• Enter address of 10.0.17.x, where x is assigned /24 octet
• Subnet mask bits -> 24
• WAN upstream gateway -> 10.0.17.2
• IPv4 name server -> 10.0.17.2
• DHCP to configure WAN IPv6? NO
• Bypass IPv6 configuration by pressing ENTER
• HTTP for GUI? NO
• Select 2 to "Set interface IP address" again
• Select 1 for LAN interface
• DHCP to configure LAN IPv4? NO
• Enter address of 10.0.5.2
• Subnet mask bits -> 24
• LAN upstream gateway isn't used -> ENTER
• DHCP to configure LAN IPv6? NO
• Bypass IPv6 configuration by pressing ENTER
• Enable LAN DHCP Server? NO
• Do not revert to HTTP
