Parts and enclosures - BleepLabs/Arduino-Light-And-Sound GitHub Wiki

Soldering your device together and putting it in an enclosure is a great way to keep it operating consistently. Here are a few parts and tips to get you going.
Adafruit and Sparkfun are great places to get all kinds of things from.

Permaproto PCBs
Arranged just like a breadboard, these protoboards make soldering everything together much easier. You can also get a similar one from mouser.
You can find soldering info half way down this page.

Headers
Use these (unfortunately I can only find the right size on the bad site) to mount your teensy to the protoboards so you don't risk damaging it and to allow swapping it out for other teensys. Just chop them down to size.
If you're using standard DIP chips on your build you can use these kinds of sockets.

Panel mount
Pots, switches, and buttons. Solder wires to them and connect them to the protoboard then you can easily mount them on an enclosure.
There are USB panel mounts and DC barrel connectors but usually just drilling a large hole in the enclose so you can access the teensy's USB is the best option.

Enclosures
This enclosure is large enough for lots of controls and two permaproto boards. But of course finding some old box or making your own weird case is part of the fun!

Stepped drill bit
Fancy, works totally fine. These bits work great for metal or plastic and easily cut any size hold you might need.
