1.2 Dungeon - Baumgaer/Game GitHub Wiki
The player can optionally create its own dungeon if there is enough faith or the player remains a caravan. If a dungeon is built the monsters will be magically attracted and populate the dungeon. To build a dungeon the player must reveal his heart which is used as the core of the dungeon similar to Dungeon Keeper or War for the overworld (see figure 3)
Figure 3: Heart of a dungeon in green colors and surrounding premises
The heart claims a certain area on the map in which the player can build its own dungeon. It also represents an interface to the populating monsters of the dungeon. If it is injured by an enemy, the faith will fall. If it is destroyed the fait will be lost and only the hero monster and some patriots will survive and follow the player while all other monsters will leave the dungeon and loose the fait to the player. The dungeon will collapse in parts and the rest of it will become a ruin which will be populated by the ghosts of dead monsters. After that the player can decide to build a new dungeon or conquer its old place back again and repopulate the old dungeon.
1.2.1 The construction
To build the own dungeon the player needs workers which can dig the rooms. For the first time the hero monster can do that but it is not the main use of this monster. The workers appears after releasing the heart. To command the workers the player must mark an area which should be diged by the workers (see figure 4). Then the user can choose a room in a list and give the command to build this room.Every room requires its own resources to be built for example wood or iron. If there are not enough resources the room will be only partial finished and used.
Figure 4: Command for workers to dig dirt
In addition, rooms can be separated by doors from the rest of the dungeon. Traps, defensive guns and other non-expandable building structures, such as Sentinel, should be available. To attract monsters depending on the available rooms the dungeon needs at least one opened entry to prevent that a player shields from the outside world because it is not possible to destroy walls of other players to give a save area.
1.2.2 The premises
In addition to the heart, a dungeon also contains other rooms that meet the needs of the monsters. Every monster of family needs its own place to sleep or even an apartment inside the dungeon. There should be possibilities available for entertainment, for trading and working. In addition, a "pantry" would be quite practical and a resource storage. In addition to the rooms for the monsters, there should also be special rooms, which are only for the player and the hero monster e.g. a treasury which is used a the inventory of the player. The player can access the treasury from far away.
Depending on which room was build one or more types of monster will be attracted. Depending on the size there will comes more or less of ties monsters. The order of the rooms is also very important. If the ways are too long between the rooms, the satisfaction will sink. If there is a room which emits a smell which is hated by a monster this will sink the satisfaction of this monster, too. Which rooms there will be in detail is not yet clear. What is clear is that the dungeon must provide a marketplace for the monsters to trade among themselves. The financier for the resulting market is the player himself with a treasury or something similar. So he also has to control the market in his dungeon (with inflation and deflation and so on, all in addition to trading with other players).
