Ragtag but versatile, brigands use a variety of equipment and vary greatly depending on it. Quick knaves, brawny brutes, throwers, bowmen and even some smart enough to actually use a shield. While generally disorganized, things change when one of them is mean enough or a has a silver enough tongue that the rest will listen. With direction and discipline, even self-interested bullies and thieves such as these can become a force to be reckoned with.
Brigand parties should scale for longer games to keep it challenging for the player but still remain easier than other factions. Therefore, we have added new units at higher levels to keep the challenge going for the player longer. We have also divided brigands into different archetypes and unit blocks for a variety of roles on the battlefield.
- On average easier than other factions at all stages of the game
- Ragtag and disorganized
- Use lower quality gear
All brigands have the Bully perk that allows them to deal higher damage against targets whose morale is lower than theirs.
These are your typical brigands and form the meat of most brigand parties. They consist of characters equipped with a one-handed weapon and sometimes with a shield or a two-handed weapon. The Scoundrel is the analogue to the vanilla Thug and is on a similar level of difficulty. The Vandal corresponds to the vanilla Raider. The Raider and Highwayman in Reforged are higher tier brigands that appear later in the game.
These brigands represent brutes who favor muscle over brains. They come equipped with brutish two-handed weapons and have higher hitpoints but neglect armor. They all have the Survival Instinct perk which helps them stand their ground when being attacked from all sides.
Hunters, poachers and their better skilled counterparts, these brigands use bows and crossbows to take out their victims from afar. Poachers can use shortbows or slings.
These slippery knaves utilize throwing weapons from a distance and can stand their ground in a melee fight.
These are elite warriors who have turned to a life of banditry to prey upon the weak. Highly skilled, they pose a serious challenge on the battlefield. The Swordmasters come in several variants each utilizing a different perk from the Swordmaster perk group and with appropriate gear.
These are especially influential brigands who, due to their charisma or brutality, have garnered a strong reputation among the lowlives. They have the Inspiring Presence perk and are able to organize their followers into more disciplined groups. They are also able to Rally fleeing allies. The Leader has the Onslaught perk which he can use to order his allies to press the attack and push through the enemy lines. The Robber Baron has the Blitzkrieg perk through which he can order his allies to overwhelm their opponents with sheer speed.
Brigands are often accompanied by dogs.
