Vision

While Reforged is polished and has many new features and systems, we still do not yet consider it to be a complete experience. There are still a number of things on our roadmap that focus on shoring up systems we think are lacking and buildings upon features we think can support it.

Faction Expansions

A fight between expanded Bandits and Nobles. The core gameplay loop of Battle Brothers is phenomenal and is one part of the whole that has made Battle Brothers one of the top games in the genre. After many hours of gameplay though, we found there was just not enough variety, depth and content within that loop to continue to keep the excitement alive. Expanding the Brigand, Ancient Dead and Noble factions has played a big part in our ability to keep Reforged interesting throughout a long campaign and we want to continue this trend by similarily expanding every remaining enemy faction, including beasts. These faction expansions will focus on deepening the identity of the faction and adding new skills, effects and enemy types to keep these fights challenging, fair and fun.

Retinue Expansion

While the Retinue system did a good job of adding some long-term campaign goals, a way to modify your existence on the World Map and a way to sustain your advancement after heavy losses, we do think there are some improvements we can make to enhance the Retinue system. We have plans to increase the depth and variety of the system by completely overhauling how retinue members are hired, how they progress individually and how the bonuses they provide relate to the company's overall progress.

Livelier World

Finally, one area we thought could use some improvement from vanilla Battle Brothers is the liveliness of the world. Events are a great touch and do serve to spice up the overland experience, but we'd like to expand upon it by making the world map more dynamic and allowing more direct player interactions. This would include new types of world map entities, and new types of interactions with e.g. caravans, mercenaries and other world parties.
