• Battle Brothers is a beloved game for us hence why we continue modding it. We do not appreciate piracy, will not support issues from users with a pirated game and we will kick you out of our spaces if we find you pirating. Buy the game and support Overhype.

Basic Troubleshooting

• This list isn't a pick and choose (unless something doesn't apply to you). Go through it so you have a good experience.
• Do not use Vortex. Vortex is simply not a good tool to manage your Battle Brothers mods and can create issues down the line.
• Make sure you do not keep mods, folders or files that are not related to your Battle Brothers installation and currently played mods inside the Data folder, the main Battle Brothers folder and your documents Battle Brother folder.
• Never unzip your mods. No mods for Battle Brothers are supposed to be unzipped.
• If you have unzipped mods delete your Battle Brothers installation, verify files and start over.
• One Drive is just terrible for Battle Brothers and will create issues for you even if you run no mods. Battle Brothers requires you to have access to your savegame and logfile locations on your local system, while Microsoft's service sends them into the cloud where the game doesn't have easy access to them.
• Instructions on how to disable it
• Make sure the game is whitelisted in your antivirus as suggested by Overhype.
• Remove Steam Save Autocloud as shown below:

• Delete any old savegames that you're not currently using. There seems to be an issue with persistence between your Battle Brothers campaigns which leads to a variety of issues. You can also of course move them to a separate folder as backup.
• Find a memory extender. Battle Brothers is currently limited to use just 2GB of RAM which is barely enough for vanilla, but not enough for large mods like Legends. For GOG you can directly apply The 4GB Patch. For both Steam and GOG you can use MSU Launcher.
• If you have a Radeon Video Card and use Adrenalin app, make sure to set up your settings like below:

Memory Extension

• Battle Brothers is limited to use just 2GB of ram. This is enough for vanilla, but large mods like Legends with all the additional assets stretch it beyond the limit which causes issues like colourful squares appearing in combat or the world map. Make sure you never save your game if you see those squares
• While previously the only solution was to rebuy the game on GoG and apply the 4GB patcher nowadays we have a few other options to increase the ram usage so you don't experience errors, stuttering or framerate issues.
• Solution 1: Get and apply MSU Launcher, this works for both Steam and GoG.
• Solution 2: If on Steam, apply Steamless to your Battle Brothers exe and apply the 4GB Patch. If on GoG directly apply 4GB Patch as GoG has no DRM.

Posting a Bug Report

• Be it on our Discord or here on the Github Repo, when posting a Bug Report make sure you provide your log, located in C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Battle Brothers\log.html. This is a bare minimum, we're sadly not mind readers and need this to fix issues.
• Screenshots and additional context or steps to reproduce is also very important and helpful.
