Welcome to OpenXY!

OpenXY is an analysis package developed by Brigham Young University, written in Matlab, for performing cross-correlation analysis of High-Resolution Electron Backscatter Diffraction (HR-EBSD) patterns

Capabilities

OpenXY has the following analysis functions

  • Perform HR-EBSD cross-correlation analysis to achieve higher-accuracy orientations
  • Use real, kinematically or dynamically simulated reference patterns
  • Works for single and multi-grain scans
  • Calculate geometrically necessary dislocation (GND) content
  • Use strain-minimization pattern-center calibration to improve pattern-center accuracy
  • Supports Oxford HKL(.ctf, .cpr) and OIM(.ang) data formats
  • Supports square, line, and hexagonal scans
  • Supports all common image formats

System Requirements

  • Matlab is required. Version 2014b or higher recommended. (Compiled version to be released at a later date)
  • Parallel Computing Toolbox Required (This requirement may be made optional in future releases)
  • Image Processing Toolbox Required (This requirement may be made optional in future releases)
  • Multi-core processor (high-end i7 processor) recommended
  • Minimum of 8 GB of RAM recommended
  • Mac (OS X Yosemite or newer) needed to generate dynamically simulated images using EMsoft
