1. Handover procedure

Report and handover

At the end of your placement/degree/contract, you are expected to clean up your fumehood and bench and hand over your clearly labelled samples. A list of samples and compounds you made will be expected, along with the samples stored in vials. The list should allow correlation between spectral data and the physical samples. This will allow other members to follow up on your work for publications purpose. Please make every effort to clean round-bottom flasks and transfer your compounds to vials as you progress through your project and do not occupy them until the end.

You are also expected to leave an electronic copy of your report/thesis. The best practice would be to update this report as you go along. Don’t expect to be able to go back and characterise a compound at the end, as this has frequently been found to be disaster. Too many things can go wrong in research!

All data and report should be given to Bao in a dedicated HDD or via shared OneDrive folders. This is extremely important to support publication activities, even after a member left the group.

2. Leaver form

All Staff, Research Fellows, PhD's, MChem's, MSc's & Visitors must complete a leaver's form when leaving the department at the end of their contract/studentship/visit.

It is important that this step is not missed so that admin staff know to remove leavers from various databases & distribution lists.

Please remember to ask your leavers to fill in the following form when they are leaving the department:-

https://forms.office.com/r/g3MBH9Zaew

Once the leavers form has been submitted, all Supervisors/PIs will need to approve it via Teams. When a form has been submitted you will receive a notification. Please make sure you approve these as they come through so that the leavers process is not delayed. If your leaver has not completed the proper checks please reject and give a reason for rejection in the comments. We would like this process to be as easy, efficient and as quick as possible for all involved so please do let us know of any feedback you might have to support this.
