7. Troubleshooting and Issues with the Project - BLiverio/ICEN353-Group-7 GitHub Wiki

A major issue we were having in creating the Simon Says game on the Arduino was with the three colored LEDs. In our original design, we could get the LEDs to flash before playing the game, but after we started, the LEDs would not turn on. However, this turned out to be false. Over the weekend, we noticed the problem was that while the program did work correctly, the LED lights were very dim and were hard to see flash on unless the Arduino was in the dark. In actual light, it was close to impossible to see the LED lights. Our first method for solving this issue was switching the 10k Ohms resistors and 330 Ohms resistors for smaller resistors. However, this failed, as the lights remained dim. Our next decision was to remove the 10k Ohms resistors altogether since we they were connected to the buttons and the buttons did not need a resistor on them to work. We made a simpler circuit, and moved the 330 Ohms resistors to connect the buttons and then LEDs. We felt we had the circuit correct, but the lights were still dim when the game began. At this point, we checked our code to make sure no software errors were made and saw some lines that, if changed, could fix the issue. Once we edited the code, we uploaded it to our Arduino and the program worked correctly.
