Storing secrets in AWS - BIBSYSDEV/pipeline-builder GitHub Wiki
Each secret is characterized by:
- A Secret name
- A Secret key.
- An encrypted value
Note 1: We can store multiple key-value pairs under the same name. We can have for example a Secret with name "infrastructure" and and store in the following key value pairs
| Secret name:infrastructure | |
|---|---|
| Key | Value |
| read_from_github | 1234567 |
| github_webhook_authorization | abcdefg |
| swaggerapikey | fvlkjtegv |
Note 2: You can use an online site to generate a random password such as this one
- Navigate to AWS console
- Navigate to Secrets Manager
- Click to "Store a new secret"
- Select "Other type of secrets:"
- Enter the secret key (not the name!!) and value.
- Enter the secret name.
- Proceed until you have stored the secret
Note 3: To add a new key-value pair on an existing secret, navigate to the secret and select retrieve secret value and then edit.
