  1. Go to this website and select which version of CASA you would like to download for the appropriate operating system you have installed on your machine. https://casa.nrao.edu/casadocs/casa-5.6.0/introduction/obtaining-and-installing

  2. This tutorial will first focus on using CASA 5.3 which has a modular VLA calibration pipeline. The newest and latest version was also installed. After download and installation, change the CASA app to CASA_X.X to specify version. fig7.

  3. It is important to complete the installation of CASA with these final two steps after you first open CASA. Do it in the CASA 5.3 version we have downloaded and installed. See this website for details https://casa.nrao.edu/casadocs/casa-5.6.0/introduction/obtaining-and-installing. fig7

  4. The scripted pipeline also needs to be downloaded and opened. Go to here https://science.nrao.edu/facilities/vla/data-processing/pipeline to find the general pipeline documentation and here https://science.nrao.edu/facilities/vla/data-processing/pipeline/scripted-pipeline for the scripted pipeline download. We will go into the pipeline later when we start the calibrating the data.
