To enforce a text area you have to define maxLength in the xsd, which is above 256

example for input field (maxLength below 256 or not given!):

      <xsd:maxLength value="256" />
    </xsd:restriction>
  </xsd:simpleType>

      <xsd:maxLength value="256" />
    </xsd:restriction>
  </xsd:simpleType>

example for text area (maxLength above 256)
