Windows XP FLP - BASLQC/BASLQC GitHub Wiki
A leaner, significantly improved version of Windows XP designed to run on computers made for Win 95/98. It only requires 700MB of storage for the system, and at least 64MB of RAM.
Unlike other hacked lightweight version of Windows, WinFLP is mostly compatible (though not always) with Windows XP applications, giving your old PCs new life. It even works with 16-bit applications from Windows 3.11.
Here's a quick list of features.
Installation
You probably want to choose Custom Installation, enable Windows XP SP2 drivers, and deselect Internet Explorer 6 (totally out of date, bring a USB Drive with Firefox instead). You can also select East Asian Language support (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) here if you need it.

Service Pack 3
You should install Service Pack 3 for WinFLP, for maximum security.
Apps
Web Browser
Do not use Internet Explorer with Windows XP: It is abandoned by Microsoft and is chock full of exploits. Newer version of IE do not install on Windows XP.
Use a modern web browser such as Chrome or Firefox instead.
If your computer has a very small amount of RAM, you should use a lightweight web browser.
Theming
Royale Noir is a significantly improved version of Luna (the Windows XP theme). This is strongly recommended to give your XP install a more modern feel, and a darker wallpaper goes great with it.
ClearType
Microsoft created this font-smoothing system for LCD devices (which were becoming ever more popular). In the past, the slight blurriness of CRT screens would smooth out the font. But now, with pixel-perfect LCD screens, the jagged fonts can be distracting.
Install the ClearType PowerToy and enable it in settings to make it work in Windows XP.
