Plots - B4dWo1f/RUN GitHub Wiki
For now the data is plotted as different layers so they can be arranged one on top of each other. For instance it would be possible to show wind intensity, wind direction and cloud cover one on top of each other.
Images structure disclaimer
The images have no margins and they are all created with the same geographical extent, so they can be stacked one on top of each other as desired. They are stored with the following structure

The Maps
I use cartopy as the library to handle all the geographical details. It allows to plot data and project it in any map projection we want. It takes care of the conversion lat/lon coordinates-pixel in the maps what ensures precision in the data representation.
Cartopy also provides shapefiles for certain geographical features via natural earth
For the basemap I chose the visible-earth data in order to simplify and standarize the background creation.
The Data
WRF produces the data in netcdf4 files, which are efficient files to store lots of gridded data together with geographical information. The WRF-python library provides efficient functions to extract the data.
There are still some properties which are not calculated by WRF itself but rather are derived from the WRF output. Most of this post-processing we borrow from DrJack's codes. Respecting DrJack's copyright the FORTRAN codes are not provided.
For now I'll leave a link to DrJack's description for all the properties here.
