Introduction

Many students are facing lots of difficulties to fold and arrange their clothes due to their busy schedules.To help them our team is designing and making a semiautomatic, portable cloth folding machine with engineering skills. Cloth folding machines' are greatly used in textile industries .These machines are very expensive for the people. So we are making a affordable, easy to use machine . A clothes folder is a device or a machine for folding garments. Clothes folders range from hand operated boards with hinges to automatic folding machines of various sizes. There are several industrial variants of clothes folding machines, with some being highly specialized for certain types of clothes, or very large to accommodate large textiles such as bedding. Examples of commercial clothes folders for domestic use include FoldiMate and Laundroid, which only work for smaller clothes, and not larger items such as bending.

The utility model provides an automatic clothes folding machine which comprises a clothes folding system and a control system used for controlling the running of the clothes folding system, wherein the clothes folding system comprises a support, a box body, a clothes containing part and a folding plate part, and the control system controls the folding plate part to run and convey folded clothes to the clothes containing part. According to the automatic clothes folding machine, after clothes are dried and placed on the folding plate part, the clothes can be folded and gathered together automatically only with a switch pressed, and therefore simple but trivial manual labor is avoided, efficiency of clothes processing is improved, and a large amount of labor and time is saved. The automatic clothes folding machine can be popularized to the clothing industry from household use, and therefore mechanized and automated processing of the clothes is achieved, and production cost is saved.

The goal of our team is to design and build a cloth folding machine using components like; motors, flipboards, gears etc .This mechatronic model has the creativity and imagination of each individual of the team.

Vindya Hostel is in need of cloth folding bot to ease the work of students.

Working:

Design and create a cloth folding machine with moving objects/characters that symbolize abstract concepts and represent dynamic situations. Following are the mechanism of components;

  • Gears are very versatile and can help produce a range of movements that can be used to control the speed of action. In basic terms, gears are comparable to continuously applied levers, as one tooth is engaging, another is disengaging. The amount of teeth each gear wheel has affects the action on the gear wheel it engages or meshes with. The gear wheel being turned is called the input gear and the the one it drives is called the output gear. Gears with unequal numbers of teeth alter the speed between the input and output.

  • Rack and pinion is a type of linear actuator that comprises a circular gearthe pinion engaging a linear gear (the rack). Together, they convert rotational motion into linear motion. Rotating the pinion causes the rack to be driven in a line. Conversely, moving the rack linearly will cause the pinion to rotate. A rack and pinion drive can use both straight and helical gears. Though some suggest helical gears are quieter in operation, no hard evidence supports this theory. Helical racks, while being more affordable, have proven to increase side torque on the datums, increasing operating temperature leading to premature wear. Straight racks require a lower driving force and offer increased torque and speed per percentage of gear ratio which allows lower operating temperature and lessens viscal friction and energy use. The maximum force that can be transmitted in a rack and pinion mechanism is determined by the tooth pitch and the size of the pinion as well as the gear ratio.

  • DC motor is any of a class of rotary electrical motors that converts direct current (DC) electrical energy into mechanical energy. The most common types rely on the forces produced by induced magnetic fields due to flowing current in the coil. Nearly all types of DC motors have some internal mechanism, either electromechanical or electronic, to periodically change the direction of current in part of the motor.DC motors were the first form of motors widely used, as they could be powered from existing direct-current lighting power distribution systems. A DC motor's speed can be controlled over a wide range, using either a variable supply voltage or by changing the strength of current in its field windings. Small DC motors are used in tools, toys, and appliances. The universal motor, a lightweight brushed motor used for portable power tools and appliances can operate on direct current and alternating current. Larger DC motors are currently used in propulsion of electric vehicles, elevator and hoists, and in drives for steel rolling mills. The advent of power electronics has made replacement of DC motors with AC motors possible in many applications.
